1. How to register and use the forum on your own?

You will be guided through the registration process and the basic usage of the forum by the following tutorials:

  • Registering a user account
  • Creating a new topic
  • Replying to a topic
  • Creating a poll
  • Sending private messages
  • Using the Search function

    *The Macromedia Flash plugin is needed to view the tutorials.
  • 2. What are the stars on the forum?

    The stars indicate the status of the forum member under the following scheme:

    Administrator
    Moderator
    Lignjon

    (Squid) (500 posts)
    Akademik (Academic)
    (150 posts)

    Administrators have all the rights and take care of the configuration, supervision and general order of the forum.

    Moderators have the status of supervisors inside a certain section of the forum and can edit and delete other people's posts.

    Lecturers fall into a special category, which includes lecturers of our department. They have a separate section of the forum available at their disposal where they can post, delete and edit the pieces of news meant for the students. The rank Champion is awarded to the currently most contributive member of the forum - to the one with most posts.

    Ranks from Osnovnošolec (Primary School Student) to Lignjon (Monster Squid) are given to all forum members who post a certain amount of messages on the forum. No special rights are appointed to these ranks at the moment.

    3. Rules of conduct on the forum?

    Article 1
    The forum is lead by its administrators, who have all the authorization. Their work is based on the catchphrase "Divide et impera" (divide and conquer), that is why all comments are welcome, but none are binding.

    Article 2
    Any kind of insults and discrimination based on race, nationality, religion, handicap, sexual origin... is strictly forbidden. Molesting other forum members will also not be tolerated.

    Article 3
    Posted statements should be supported by evidence. Any kind of coercing of your own will against the will of others, and gain of authority on the basis of Article 2 is also prohibited.

    Article 4
    Searching for, asking for, advertising and any other contact with illegal content prohibited by law is not allowed.

    Article 5
    Advertising without prior consent of the forum is not allowed. The only form of advertising that is partially tolerated is the one in your signature/avatar.

    Article 6
    Every word, clause or sentence is still in property of its author in spite of its publishment. Any further use of textual material must be based on a consensus between the Forum and the author.

    Article 7
    Searching for, advertising, and display of pornographic material, or any kind of immoral content, is strictly prohibited.

    Article 8
    Insulting and cursing is not to be used, overuse of those two forms of expressing feelings shall be treated as offensive and shall be punished accordingly.

    Article 9
    Mass posting and use of material found on the forum to the prejudice of the members and management of the website and forum is prohibited.

    Article 10
    Opening new topics that are identical to the ones already opened is undesirable. Every theme must have a title thematically connected to its content. Should the theme go astray, away from its first post, the moderator has the right to lock it down.

    Article 11
    Misuse of errors discovered on the webpage or forum is strongly prohibited. It is your duty to report all the errors you may have found to the administrator of the forum. We shall be very grateful for all the reported errors.

    Article 12
    Abide by the unwritten rules - be reasonable. We all wish for a quality forum and posts, and visitors who have something to say. If an excessive number of insults and swear words be used, the offender shall first be reprimanded and then banned with no regard to their popularity on the forum and the time they spend there.

    Article 13
    Should someone intentionally hack into the database of our forum, all the related data shall be released to the proper authorities (the police), which shall act in accordance to the laws of the Republic of Slovenia.

    Article 14
    You can register as a member of the forum only once (exceptionally, you may contact the administrator) and you can use only one nickname at once, which you can change at will. You can also change all the data found in the section 'Tvoj profil' ('Your profile'). If a person is found to be registered multiple times with different nicknames, the person shall be removed from the forum.

    Article 15
    It is forbidden to upload big files of either legal or illegal content to the forum (big pictures, .mp3 .zip and other files, viruses etc.) Administrators are not responsible for illegal files and such files shall be erased as soon as possible. Should you wish to publish your material, contact one of the administrators. Your proposal shall be considered, and if approved, the material shall be published on the main website and not on the forum. You are strongly encouraged to publish links to files (pictures, animations etc.) located on other servers so that we can avoid overloading our server.

    Article 16
    Try to follow rules of orthography, since this makes posts easier for survey and reading. Do no use ALL CAPS unless you have good reason for doing so. In computer jargon this means screaming.

    Article 17
    Do not write about illegal topics. This includes software, music and film piracy, along with other representatives of this field. Such posts shall be deleted and in case of repetitive violations the author shall be banned from the forum.

    Article 18
    When citing from other sources, mark the citation appropriately and always state where you cited from.

    Article 19
    If you are reprimanded or get banned from the forum, talk to the moderator about your problem. Be reasonable. If he/she thinks that you are to be trusted and are likely to be on good terms with the forum in the, you will be given another chance.

    Article 20
    In their posts, members and guests of this forum may express opinions not necessarily in accordance to the official position of the Faculty of Arts at the University of Ljubljana. We are not responsible for the opinions of our guests or members.

    Article 21
    Forum rules may be changed, updated or added at any time without prior notification. All the changes shall be published on this page.
